Our Model & DNA

The CLP Model: Community-Driven & People-Centred Approach to Development

For over three decades, Community Life Project (CLP) has developed a unique, community-centred approach to social service delivery, empowering grassroots communities. This model is grounded in inclusivity, cultural sensitivity, and sustainable partnerships, aiming to engage communities on their terms and in ways that align with their values. Unlike top-down models, the CLP approach emphasises collaboration with local groups and institutions, recognising that true change must be driven from within the community.

Our DNA

CLP’s uniqueness lies in its holistic and inclusive approach to empowering marginalised communities and sub-populations, particularly those at the “last mile” of society. Our focus extends beyond addressing immediate needs; we seek to create lasting systemic change by enabling people to reclaim their agency, voice, and place in decision-making processes within the family, the community, the civic space, and governance structures.

Our Unique Approach

Focus on Marginalised Grassroots Communities and Vulnerable Sub-Populations:

At Community Life Project (CLP), we target the “last milers” – people often overlooked by traditional systems and development efforts. These primarily include women, children,  youth, persons with disability, and the elderly. We are ever mindful that these groups of people often face multiple forms of exclusion, discrimination, and injustice.  This focus ensures that those who need the most support are prioritised and reached.

Empowering Change from Within:

Rather than imposing solutions, we equip individuals, families, and communities with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to drive their transformation. This grassroots empowerment approach fosters long-term change by building local capacity and personal and collective agency.

Bridging Gaps in Leadership:

By enabling marginalised voices to get into decision-making processes – whether in families, communities, or governance structures –  CLP ensures that solutions are inclusive, representative, and appropriate.

Interconnected View of Community Life:

We view community life as an interwoven fabric where individual challenges are connected to collective well-being. By addressing relationships and power dynamics among men, women, youth, children, elders, and persons with disability, we help create more cohesive and equitable community structures.

Integrated Approach to Human Dignity:

Our work combines alleviating human suffering, amplifying voices, cultivating thriving communities, and enabling governance participation into a single mission. This integration ensures that all efforts reinforce and complement one another and preserve human dignity.

Catalyst for Systemic Change:

We don’t just address symptoms of marginalisation; we tackle the underlying structures, norms, and power imbalances perpetuating exclusion and inequality. CLP serves as a bridge between the marginalised and systemic institutions, catalysing inclusive and sustainable progress.
