CLP provides comprehensive leadership training to men, focusing on their roles in governance and social accountability. These workshops equip participants with the knowledge to engage in civic duties, understand governance structures, and advocate for their communities effectively.
Through participatory governance programs, men are encouraged to join town hall meetings, engage in budget planning, and monitor the implementation of community projects. These initiatives foster a culture of accountability and ensure that community resources are used effectively.
CLP organizes forums where men can discuss local governance issues, share experiences, and propose solutions. These forums are designed to strengthen men’s involvement in social accountability and empower them to hold local leaders accountable for their actions.
CLP’s programs emphasize the importance of gender equity in governance. Men are trained on the value of inclusive leadership, where both men and women contribute to decision-making processes. This approach promotes a more balanced and representative governance structure.
Recognizing the link between economic stability and civic participation, CLP integrates economic empowerment initiatives with governance training. Men are provided with resources and support to enhance their livelihoods, enabling them to participate more actively in governance and community development.
My joining the Community Life Project (CLP) was not by accident. I see it as a divine calling. I was involved in the activities of the organization for 19 eventful years. During this period, CLP shaped my worldviews on various topical issues. CLP has significantly helped in changing some of the traditional harmful misconceptions I had before my engagement, especially regarding Female Genital Mutilation.
On the professional level, CLP molded my views and ability to constructively critique issues before making decisions. The most memorable aspect of the work for me is seeing how our grassroots partners and vulnerable groups are treated as real human beings, with respect and dignity, whenever they are with us. This has remained an integral part of my life, even after my disengagement from the organization.
I also gained on-the-job experience, especially in dealing with the many challenges faced by those responsible for implementing development programs. This experience has been invaluable in both my professional and personal endeavors.
At the moment, I am on the verge of obtaining a Master's degree in Project Management after many years of professional engagement with CLP. This academic pursuit will provide me with advanced knowledge in the development field. I thank CLP for laying the foundation.
I wish Community Life Project a happy 30th Anniversary celebration and many more years of service to humanity.
